The Chruch has the authority to interpret the Bible, because Christ gave authority to the Holy Apostles, who then passed that authority to the people who ran the Chruch throughout the ages, up to today. If we interpret by ourselves, it is risky, because it can lead to heresy, which distorts the truth, and so deceives us. If we do so choose to interpret the Bible ourselves, we must make sure that it aligns accordingly with the Holy Church and in communion with the Holy Spirit.
