Discussion Description:
One of the great philosophical objections to our faith in Christ is this: How can evil exist when the All-Powerful and All-Loving God is here and alive? Now throughout history there have been many really good answers to this specific problem, and some have chosen to not accept those good answers, which is wrong. But how would you, being a Christian, answer the problem of evil to people such as atheists?

Now free will is necessary for Love to exist in any genuine way, which is why God created us in the first place, to share in His wonderful Love, and should be used to love God as He loves us, and love each other willingly. However, free will can also be used against God's will, which leads to evil. Now the first beings who committed evil were not Adam and Eve, but actually Satan and his followers, the fallen angels. Now angels, like us humans, have free will, and in Satan's case, he would use that free will, rather than worshiping God with music or serving him, used it to disobey God out of pride, wanting to become someone greater than God. By uniting a third of God's angels with him, Satan deceives even himself that he could overpower the Almighty God, "For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High." (Isaiah 14:13-14) As a result of free will, war breaks out in the Heavenly realms due to Satan's rebellion, and the consequence of this war was the fall of Satan spiritually, being cast to the earth, and eventual everlasting death, sulfur, and hellfire. Now Satan knows his time is short, which is why when God created Adam and Eve, he tempted the humans on his terms; which is to rebel against God as he did. By eating the fruit in the Garden of Eden, not only does this action introduce sin to humanity, but death, and not only death, but ongoing disobedience against the All Good God through our thoughts, actions, and words. With the sin of humanity and the sin of the angels and the sin of Satan, the earth itself is defiled. The sea no longer is the calm, peaceful waters, rather, tsunamis are introduced. The wind can blow and kill and destroy, and there are places on this earth with freezing temperatures that result in death, and deserts one can get lost in without water. The whole earth groans in the form of earthquakes, and nature itself becomes rebellious, uncontrollable, wild, having the ability to kill and destroy. That is why there needed to be created a New Earth (Rev 21:1), because these continuous evil throws the world into turmoil. Thus, as a result, by the temptation of Satan and Adam and Eve's rebellion against God, believing Satan's lies over God's Truth, having pride of themselves over the plentiful God has already given to them, all these horrible evils are initiated. Death was introduced in the slaughtering of an animal to cover Adam and Eve's nakedness, pain was introduced in the form of childbirth (Gen 3:16), then there comes violence (Gen 4:8) and the murdering of a human being (with Cain attacking Abel), then there are lies, then sadness, anxiety, depression, anger. There is greed and sloth, there is drunkards and people so full of themselves they cannot accept God, there is autism, the unrepentant, there is cancer, there is disbelief and belief in multiple gods and riots and wars, there are machines used for wars and death bombs, there is Satan and a spiritual battle going against us which we sometimes allow into our minds and into our actions, there are false teachers and workers for Satan who will take them to hell, there are the careless people and people who only think to benefit themselves, and there is so much disease, and so much death, which no one has been able to escape, no matter how successful or famous one becomes. So, to answer this great problem of evil, evil exists, NOT because God created it, but on the contrary, because Satan wanted to be above God, and when he was casted out, he would come to tempt Adam and Eve in their innocence to either choose the All-Powerful, All-Knowing, All-Good God, or their own prideful disobedience. Humanity chose the latter. Therefore, evil exists, because that was our choice. Yes, Satan has influence over their decision to eat the fruit or not eat the fruit, in the form of lies and temptation, but Adam and Eve still chose what God specifically told them not to do by using their free will, which was given to them for loving one another and loving God, to do what was wrong. And disobedience is what gives birth to all this evilness. Because God is Good, disobeying God means going against good, which is the definition of evil. I hope this answers your question to how evil exists when there is an All-Powerful, All- Knowing, and All- Loving God, which is a mix of Satan's choices and temptations (like outside forces out of our control), but also our own free will (like how despite temptations we can still say "no", instead of saying "yes"), creating this "joint" rebellion which damaged all of creation. I hope I answered your question well in the Spirit, however, if I did get any of this information wrong or some of my theology goes against the Church or the Word, please let me know as none of us are perfect in the sense of we can't make a mistake, and I'll be sure to look into it! But only through the perfect Man Jesus Christ are we perfected, "For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified." (Hebrews 10:14) Have a blessed day/night whenever anyone sees this, and though this took a long time, we hope this helps!
